Cupcake Gangsters

Chicago has no shortage of cupcake trucks. And Cupcake Gangsters is relatively new on the scene, launching earlier this year. So of course as soon as I found out about it, I set my sights on landing a new truck.

Only, things didn't work out so well. For once, not for lack of tweeting or roaming the Chicago streets. This truck is all over the place and understands how to leverage social media. Just that whenever it was within a reasonable radius of the Merchandise Mart, I wasn't available. Or I'd see it on the road, like a giant pink tease.

A while back, I decided to skip one of their Tap This events. It just wasn't in the cards for me, and I'd landed all the scheduled trucks anyhow. At least up until Man Tre Chicago decided to join in (which, by the way, is still on my hit list as of this writing). And then a few minutes later, I saw a tweet that Cupcake Gangsters was joining the roster. Holy hell. Can't catch a break over here!

And so I missed my chance, but kept the truck on my radar.

Enter Fischman Liquors...again.

This time, Cupcake Gangsters was on the schedule, offering up dessert alongside a mega roster of trucks: Wagyu Wagon, Toasty Cheese and Glutton Force Five. No way I was missing this one. Uh uh.

But after eating three dinners, with no cupcake truck in sight, I was thinking it would be another bust. Until this pink beauty pulled up and I scored me a triple chocolate: chocolate cake with chocolate chips and chocolate fudge frosting.

Ah, the thrill of the hunt.
