Hot Mess

Last time I was in Austin for Drupalcon in 2014, I scored seven mobile eateries in an effort to close out Texas in the 10 in 5 State challenge, and I just barely made it. Something about a dead bird and crashing somebody else's food truck party.

Well, I've returned for yet another Drupal event: Texas Camp. And we stayed with our dear friend and local Austinite Stephanie, with whom we raged and crawled, and ate and drank a good portion of Austin over three days.

After landing, we met at the Salty Sow for snacks and drinks while planning strategy for the next few days. We officially started our Thursday crawl of East 6th at Whisler's. From there we hit Grackle, and then I spotted Hot Mess parked at Zilker Brewery.

Now, this was early into the crawl, and it was maybe only an hour since we snacked, but there was no way in hell I was passing on the Hot Mess loaded fries. Especially since I could "make them messy" by adding hot peppers and a fried egg. Because #eggoneverything

While waiting, the owner of the truck and I chatted over some free Fireballs. This is some delicious food and you should all keep an eye out for his next truck: the Italian Hot Mess.

In all, we hit 2 trucks and 8 bars, not counting Salty Sow. Not bad for Day 1.
