Mariani's Gelato Italiano

Last truck of the day for me (and a new personal best at 6 trucks at one time): gelato on an unbelievably cold 50-degree day. I swear it felt like it was in the 30s.

I chatted up the lovely ladies on the truck, wondering specifically how they managed to stay under my radar.

After all, this is what I do.

Seems they accidentally deleted their twitter account and only roll in the 'burbs, mostly doing parties, weddings, catering and such, with Roselle as their main stomping grounds.

Samples were offered up, but there was no way I was going to consume any more food than was absolutely necessary at this point. There were several of my favorite flavors on board. But, this is fall, so I just had to go with pumpkin spice.

Bonus points: they wouldn't let me leave without first tasting it and giving my impression. Verdict? That super creamy gelato experience you can only get from freshly made, with plenty of pumpkin and loads of spice. Just the way I like it.

Oh, and spoiler alert: plans are to get a Cook county license for next spring, meaning they'll be able to roll the streets of Chicago.

Fantastic.
